Our sea can’t wait any longer

From June 9–13, the global community meets in Nice, France, for the third United Nations Ocean Conference 2025, a crucial opportunity to transform words into action for the ocean.

The ocean feeds billions, provides oxygen, and regulates the climate, yet it’s being pushed to the brink by overfishing, pollution, and climate change. Solutions exist, but five years from the 2030 deadline, implementation is lagging dangerously behind.

WWF will be in Nice to urge countries and businesses to:

  • Deliver the 30x30 target, protecting at least 30% of the ocean by 2030

  •  Accelerate ratification of the UN High Seas Treaty

  •  Reform harmful fisheries subsidies

  •  Support community-led coastal conservation

  •  Halt deep-sea mining and fast-track ocean-climate solutions

We believe in an ocean that thrives for people, nature and climate. But we must act now.
WWF Mediterranean will contribute by participating in events and launching new reports at UNOC, including:

  • June 8 - Launch of Safeguarding Mediterranean seagrass Blue Forests from recreational anchoring damage report
  • June 8 - Human Rights and the Ocean Day
  • June 9 - Protecting Blue Corridors for Marine Megafauna: Uniting Science, Innovation & Partnerships for Lasting Conservation
